  • Concord

Concord, the vibrant capital of New Hampshire, thrives on year-round tourism. Main Street has over 175 retail spaces selling everything from candy to antiques seasoned with a nice collection of restaurants. A love for live entertainment brings Broadway shows, the Ballet, and international programs to the Capitol Center for the Arts. Fishing in the Merrimack River and kayaking down the Contoocook River quenches the thirst for adventure.

  • Hartford

One of America's oldest towns, Hartford is a treasure trove of historic sites in a small package. It has hosted many "firsts" ? Wadsworth Atheneum, the country's first public museum; Bushnell Park, the first public park; and Elizabeth Park, America's first municipal rose garden, to name a few.

  • Litchfield

The people of Litchfield are proud of the rolling hills of their town, and their well-kept Colonial homes that exude the grace and charm of a lost era. Sights in Litchfield include: Litchfield Historical Society Museum; the Tapping Reeve House and Law School, first law school in the country; White Flower Farm; Lourdes in Litchfield, and Haight Vineyard and Winery. Activities abound in this picturesque town with parks offering hiking, biking, sledding and cross-country skiing.

  • Meriden

Meriden, once the home of the International Silver Company and foremost leader in silverware manufacturing, has mellowed since its heyday. Plans are in the making to replace old buildings with new shops and restaurants. There are several nice hiking trails in parks in the area and the Farmington River in Canton one of the best fly fishing spots in the state.

  • Mystic

The old seafaring village of Mystic sits at the mouth of the river of the same name. Mystic Seaport is a reconstructed 19th Century seaside community built with history in mind and maritime in the heart. The village boasts old-time shops and dining. This is probably the only place on Earth where a nickel buys a beer. With the Mystic River on tap, this village offers a number of excellent water sports, including kayaking and sailing. Several fishing charters also pull out for adventures on the water.

  • Nashua

Nashua, second largest city in New Hampshire, is characterized by urbane amenities in a traditional New England setting. At its heart is Main Street and the Nashua River with stores and restaurants radiating out from its core. More than 100 shops and 35 restaurants meet every whim imaginable. Nashua is rich with culture. Old mills have been converted to gallery space, forming what is now Bilancia Gallery and Framing on Pearl Street, the artistic soul of the city. Nashua has its own ballet theater and symphony.

  • New London / Groton

Home of the largest submarine manufacturer in America, Groton is a medium-sized oceanfront community. The first nuclear submarine (USS Nautilus) was built here in 1954, and has now been put on public display in the shipyard. Several instructional cruises set out to identify marine animals and to learn about the 1909 New London Ledge Lighthouse. Outdoor activities are favored here with many resources for hiking, fishing, swimming, skating and biking.

  • Portsmouth

Portsmouth, steeped in history and character, prospered as a seafaring community in the 1800s. Stately homes that once belonged to ship captains still stand proudly in town, phantoms of prowess and wealth. In Old Harbor, shops and restaurants have replaced a once thriving mercantile industry. And, throughout the town, Georgian and Federal-style homes pose in restored glory for public consumption. Hints of the water world are everywhere. Parks are outfitted with boat launches and fishing piers, and decorated with mastheads and model ships.

  • Storrs

Storrs is a charming rural village with rolling hills, winding roads and Colonial homes scattered on wide spreads of land. Shady country lanes, big red barns, sunny fields of wildflowers, and several nooks of shops that are the sugar and spice of the village itself. The University of Connecticutt is here and offers lots of opportunities for spectator sports.
