Description
Forty historic buildings, many of them on their original sites, set the scene for the Strawbery Banke, a museum complex that offers visitors a glimpse of life in Portsmouth, New Hampshire in bygone centuries. Former private residences decorated with period furnishings help round out the picture painted by historic interpreters in era-appropriate costumes, and visitors can wander from Colonial Revival garden to governor's mansion, family-run grocery store to Revolutionary War tavern on a leisurely tour of this expansive site, also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
