Often snow-cloaked, the spiny summit of Mount Washington makes it the tallest peak in the northeast and the king of the White Mountain Region, an area laced with hiking trails and dotted with quaint little hamlets.
An easy, well-marked, loop trail leads to the "Imp Profile” which is visible from Rt.16 and Dolly Copp Campground. Excellent views of the Presidential Range are available from the rocky "face”. Start the hike opposite the Dolly Copp Picnic Area on Rt. 16, following the Imp Trail signs ascend to the profile (2.2mi. – 2 hr.). Continue another 0.9 miles to the North Carter Trail junction and another 2.3 miles back to Rt. 16, about 0.2 miles south of the starting point.
